iPilot was founded in 2009 by German entrepreneur and amateur pilot Wolfram Schleuter. With a background that includes founding several tourism and events businesses in the UK and Germany, Wolfram wanted to try something that blended his hobby and business experience and iPilot was born.
iPilot Flight Simulators allow anyone from six years old to experience flying a large passenger jet, accompanied by a trained co-pilot. Most flight simulator facilities are usually located within airline company compounds, meant for the use of pilots and pilots in training, and cost several hundred pounds an hour to use. By locating our Flight Simulators in shopping malls and airports means iPilot puts a realistic flight simulator experience within reach of many more people.
Our flight simulator experiences appeal to a wide range of people, from aviation buffs, to those looking to try something new. Many of our guests experience iPilot for the first time with a gift certificate bought for them, which make a perfect present for any occasion. We are also popular with pilots in training who are able to practice for their airline simulator tests.
iPilot Flight Simulators are situated in shopping malls and passenger terminals at airports in major international cities. The first iPilot location to open was at Bluewater Shopping Centre in Kent, in June 2009. Bluewater was followed quickly by the branch at the Westfield London Shopping Centre in November 2009.
European expansion got underway in November 2010 with the opening of the iPilot Flight Simulator in Terminal 2 of Munich Airport and continued in 2011 with the opening of the Dresden location.
New locations will be added to the iPilot network soon, with iPilot scheduled to land in Prague, Dubai and Doha in the near future.
